Peters-Heffley House

John Wing designed the Historic Peters House. It was built in 1885 Mary and John Claus Peters, and their seven children. At the time this magnificent Queen Ann home was considered to the finest residence in the city, boasting eight fireplaces. J.C. Peters was born in Fort Wayne in 1848, and was the grandfather of actress Carole Lombard. His business included: Horton Washing Machine Company (1871), Wayne Hotel (1886), Indiana Road Machine Co., Peters Hardware.
